Ontology [ONT] releases OWallet Version 0.8.3/0.8.4, now supports token swap

On 20th August, Ontology [ONT] announced on Twitter, the release of their latest OWallet Version 0.8.3/0.8.4 and that the update now supports token swap.

Although version 0.8.1 of the wallet did not support NEP-5 ONT, this version allows ledger users with NEP-5 ONT to transfer their ONT to an individual wallet so that they can implement the token swap successfully.

The Ontology team has stated that other additions made to the update would include the creation and import of ONT ID support. Other functions in relation to ONT ID would be added to the later versions of the Owallet, said the team.

In terms of candidate nodes, existing candidate nodes will feature node stake support. The Ontology development team have further confirmed that applications for nodes will be open starting October. Further updates to Version 0.8.3/0.8.4 include the addition of the delete wallet function and other minor and major bug fixes.

The Ontology team has clarified that NEP-5 ONT and MainNet ONT exist as two different wallets on the ONT Ledger. The team has also specified on their blog the steps for creating a MainNet ONT wallet on their Ledger.

In case a user has sent a MainNet ONT to an NEO address on Ledger [or vice versa], they would have to wait for an upcoming update of the OWallet. Ontology has affirmed that future updates will comprise of a function that would allow users to recover their ONT using their mnemonic phrase. The team has, therefore, informed users to double-check their ONT type as well as their receiving address type before they make a transaction.

Due to a possible network issue, users might not be able to look at their balance and may also receive a ‘fetch transaction history error’. For this, the users are required to change their network and attempt to retry it.

In the first week of August, Ontology had announced the release of their official desktop wallet, OWallet Version 0.8.1. The wallet supports both Mac and Windows operating systems. The distinct feature of the wallet was the fact that the version was composed of three wallets [Individual, Shared and Ledger wallet] each having its unique function.

Another Twitter user, Crypto_nutrient said:

“This is the first asset that doesn’t drop like 40% after MN release.”
