Loom Network Adds Fantasy RPG ‘Coins & Steel’ to Its Gaming Platform

The DPoS based blockchain application platform for Ethereum has announced the addition of a new fantasy multiplayer game.

A New Game on the Blockchain

Loom Network, an Ethereum blockchain based application platform, has announced the addition of a new game to its eco-system. The game, called Coins & Steel, is a multiplayer role-playing game (RPG) with a look and feel similar to that of games like Runescape.

Coins & Steel reportedly boasts robust gameplay and a more immersive gaming experience than that offered by other blockchain-based games to date. The creators of the game noted:

We want to focus on an RPG where player choice truly matters. The game boasts a variety of classes with a branching skill system, as well as features designed around fortifications, owning or defending your own slice of the world.

The World of Coins & Steel

The game is set in a vast open world filled with dangers, hidden treasures, and resources to be collected and appears to be one of the more significant blockchain-based RPGs in the market.

Coins & Steel is said to feature three-character classes, several in-game weapons, and other objects that can be crafted while playing. The game also includes player-versus-environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) battles that allow users to level up.

Players have the option to choose from different professions (like alchemy and weapons smith) and accordingly shape their character.

Players can earn the native STL tokens simply by playing the game. The STL tokens can be converted to Ether. Users are free to trade their stuff and characters with other players in exchange for STL or Ether.

The game uses ERC20 and ERC721 tokens to represent in-game objects like resources, pets, and items. Players can buy, sell or trade all these elements on the open marketplace.

Kitties from CryptoKitties can be imported into the game’s pet system and inherit unique appearance and capabilities once inside the game.

Why Loom?

According to the article, the firm decided to build on the Loom Network to improve the user interface, experience, and security. The platform’s DPoS sidechains enable scalable blockchain games and DApps to be built over the ethereum mainnet. Loom Network is often dubbed as “EOS on Ethereum”.

Loom Network currently commands a market cap of $27.6 million and is placed at rank 110 on CoinMarketCap. The inclusion of Coins & Steel in the Loom Network is a good development towards the adoption of blockchain in the gaming industry which is expected to cross $137.9 billion in 2018.
