Ethereum 2.0 to become a hub for global collaboration; upcoming developments and more

Recently, Rocket Pool, a decentralized Ethereum Proof of Stake pool, outlined the ongoing developments of Ethereum 2.0 and those involved in making the project a success.

The development team stated that the focus of Ethereum 2.0 is to provide a substantial amount of onchain transactions along with time balance decentralization and security.

According to the development team, Ethereum 2.0 has the potential to build new economic systems and become a hub for global collaboration. The project is not being developed by a single corporation and is said to be decentralized on numerous levels.

The development team stated:

“Ethereum is operationally decentralized (no single entity is responsible for keeping the blockchain running).”

The team has included topics such as Signature aggregation, Fork Choice, P2P communication and cross-shard communication. Since the above-mentioned concepts are still in their early stages of research, the development team requires time to finalize on them. The Ethereum foundation is developing a reference implementation client in the Python programming language.

Several teams have been researching and developing a beacon chain and a sharding client such as Prysmatic Labs to develop Prysm, Sigma Prime to grow Lighthouse, Status to advance Nimbus and PegaSys to develop Pantheon.

Rocket Pool maintains each individual team which is in different stages of progress in terms of implementing the Ethereum 2.0 specification. All the teams are working on advancing a beacon chain client which according to Rocket Pool is central to the Ethereum 2.0 vision.

The progress in developing the beacon chain includes work carried out in the data structures and persistence of the beacon chain state. Advancement has also been made in the transition of per block state and fork choice implementation. The Rocket Pool team has also furthered the development of validator shuffling, block proposal role, serialization of the data structure and developing the P2P protocols. Rocket Pool concluded by stating:

“An essential process being discussed is the need for a common testing language that encodes test cases — enabling researchers to define a bunch of tests with expected results that each team can use to validate their implementation against the specification, providing consistency across the different teams.”

A Twitter user named AmirPolyteknik commented:

“Be careful not to get bogged down into a massive re-engineering project that never materializes. Better to focus on incremental roadmaps.”

Another Twitter user named Sashandiggers said:

“For those who don’t know $ETH 2.0 is PoS.  Proof of stake benefits the wealthy and punishes the poor. This is not a system of change. BCH = PoW.”

Another blockchain enthusiast added:

“Sorry, Holochain and the Metacurrency project will take over.”

To which a Twitter user named Squidwardiv replied:

“I would love to see Vitalik and Holochain team pair up. Matthew Schutte didn’t bash Ethereum or the team hardcore like the Tron Community has. I feel  like Holochain and Vitalik would be an awesome combination.”
