Ethereum [ETH]’s Vitalik Buterin is NOT QUITTING Ethereum Foundation anytime soon

There has been a lot of confusion looming around in the Ethereum community. This was in the wake of speculative news revolving around the Co-Founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin deciding to leave the Ethereum community.

The news first surfaced way back in May 2018, when Buterin posted a screenshot on Twitter of a recruiter from Google asking him if working in their company made sense to him now or in the future. The Co-Founder also conducted a poll asking his followers – “Should I drop Ethereum and work for Google.” A majority of the Twitterati voted a ‘No’ in response. The tweet originally posted on 20th May 2018, now stands deleted.

In the past few days, the news of Buterin exiting Ethereum has cropped up from the surface again. In a discussion thread on Twitter, a cryptocurrency enthusiast by Twitter handle, Raz shot a question at Vitalik Buterin. He said:

“@VitalklButerin any thoughts on how you will eventually detach yourself from the project?”

Minutes later, Buterin responded to Raz where he stated that the move was already in progress. The tweet read:

“Already in progress; watch the repos, even much of the research is being done by @dannyryan, @drakefjustin, @icebearhww and others.”

In a follow-up tweet, Buterin also stated that Ethereum can continue to survive in his absence. He said:

“I think ethereum can absolutely survive me spontaneously combusting tomorrow at this point.”

Vitalik’s comments reeled the whole Ethereum community. The community misunderstood Buterin’s tweet with them asuming that the co-founder was exiting the Ethereum Foundation. Many also discussed the possibility of the Foundation surviving in his absence.

Serpent, a Twitterati commented:

“I’m sorry to see Vitalik leave Ethereum. I’ll be watching for his next creation which will probably be a decentralized system that will repel Wall St. Enjoy your personal time Vitalik and thank you.”

A day later Buterin took to Twitter to respond to the community and clear the air around the matter. He clarified in his tweet that he had no intentions of leaving the Ethereum foundation anytime soon.

His tweet read:

“To be clear, “detaching” meant detaching from *needing* to participate. No actual plans to disappear any time soon.”
